Short Stories · Qisooyin Gaagaaban
Six short stories in simple English: four Qur’anic accounts and two authentic accounts from Prophet Muhammad’s life (peace be upon him). Each has a lesson and something to practise. These are summaries, not word-for-word translations. Families can follow the source links together. Luqman is presented as a wise man, not identified here as a prophet.
1. Sulayman and the ant · Sulaymaan iyo quraanjada
As Prophet Sulayman’s army approached, an ant warned the other ants to enter their homes. Sulayman understood its words, smiled, and prayed to be thankful for Allah’s blessings. Great strength should go with kindness and gratitude.
Markii ciidankii Nabi Sulaymaan soo dhowaaday, quraanjo ayaa kuwa kale uga digtay inay guryahooda galaan. Nabi Sulaymaan hadalkeeda wuu fahmay, wuuna dhoolla-caddeeyey. Wuxuu Alle ka baryay inuu ku shukriyo nimcooyinkiisa.
Think: How can you be gentle with small creatures? · Sidee ayaad ugu naxariisan kartaa xayawaanka yaryar?
Qur’an 27:18–19Lesson: Be gentle and thankful.
Try today: Notice a small creature today and leave it safe.
2. Musa’s safe journey · Badbaadadii Muuse
Allah guided Musa’s mother to place her baby in the river when she feared for him. His sister watched from a distance. Allah brought Musa back to his mother so she could care for him. Allah knew her worry and brought her comfort.
Alle ayaa hooyadii Nabi Muuse ku ilhaamiyey inay ilmaheeda webiga geliso markii ay u baqday. Walaashiis ayaa meel fog kala socotay. Alle ayaa Muuse hooyadii u soo celiyey, si ay u daryeesho oo ay u faraxdo.
Think: Who cares for you? Thank them today.
Qur’an 28:7–13Lesson: Be thankful for the people who care for you.
Try today: Thank a parent or carer for one thing they do.
3. Yusuf forgives · Cafiskii Yuusuf
Yusuf’s brothers had hurt him badly. Years later, when they met him again, he did not seek revenge. He told them there would be no blame upon them that day and prayed for Allah to forgive them. Forgiveness is a beautiful act of strength.
Walaalihii Nabi Yuusuf waxay u geysteen dhibaato. Sannado ka dib markii ay kulmeen, kama aargudan. Wuu cafiyey, wuxuuna Alle uga baryay dembi-dhaaf.
Think: What does saying “I forgive you” mean? Ask a trusted adult for help if someone is hurting you.
Qur’an 12:89–92Lesson: Choose forgiveness instead of revenge.
Try today: If you have hurt someone, say sorry and put it right. You can forgive and still ask a trusted adult for protection.
4. Luqman’s advice · Talooyinkii Luqmaan
Luqman taught his son to worship Allah, establish prayer, do good, and be patient. He also taught him not to be proud and to speak gently. Good manners belong in our everyday lives.
Luqmaan wuxuu wiilkiisa baray cibaadada Alle, salaadda, wanaagga iyo samirka. Wuxuu kaloo kula taliyey inuusan kibirin oo uu codkiisa hoos u dhigo.
